Tim Burton and Micheal Keaton’s highly anticipated sequel, “Beetlejuice 2,” unfortunately faced an unexpected hurdle during production. Just when they were nearing the completion of filming, the SAG-AFTRA strike caused a sudden halt, leaving only a day and a half of shooting remaining. This unfortunate turn of events put the production on indefinite hold. Despite this setback, it’s important to note that Warner Bros’ commitment to the film remained steadfast as they had already started filming in London back in May, amidst another industry strike – the WGA strike.
“I feel grateful we got what we got,” Burton told The Independent in a recent interview. “Literally, it was a day and a half. We know what we have to do. It is 99 per cent done.”
The director expressed genuine pleasure when discussing their experience working on Beetlejuice 2, highlighting the rarity of actually enjoying the process of creating a big Hollywood blockbuster. It’s refreshing to find a project that brings so much satisfaction and enjoyment. “I tried to strip everything and go back to the basics of working with good people and actors and puppets. It was kind of like going back to why I liked making movies.”
